Inspired by the Japanese art of paper folding, the Origami dripper features 20 precision-cut grooves that promote airflow and encourage a clean, even extraction. The result is a cup that feels balanced, expressive, and refined.
Thoughtfully designed and beautifully made, it transforms your daily coffee ritual into something intentional.
Pair with Origami cone filters and our wooden dripper holder for the full setup.

Coffee-to-Water Ratio
For this recipe, we recommend:
15g coffee : 200g water
This 1:13-1:14 ratio produces a balanced, medium-bodied cup with clarity and sweetness. You can adjust slightly to suit your taste - more water for a lighter cup, less for more intensity.
Origami Pour Over: Step by Step
1. Rinse the Filter
Place the Origami cone filter into the dripper and lightly rinse with hot water to prevent the paper from affecting the overall taste.
Make sure to discard the rinse water before continuing to step two!
2. Add the Coffee
Add 15g of drip-ground coffee to the filter. Gently shake or tap to level the coffee bed.
If you’re ordering from us, simply select drip grind when choosing your coffee for optimal extraction.
3. Bloom
Heat your water to 94°C.
If using a non-temperature-controlled kettle, bring the water to a boil and let it sit for about one minute before pouring.
Start your timer and pour 50g of water, evenly saturating all the grounds. Allow the coffee to bloom for 30-45 seconds.

4. Slow Pour
Begin pouring again in slow, controlled circles, keeping the water level steady and avoiding the edges of the filter.
Continue pouring until you reach 100g water.
The steady circular motion encourages even extraction and highlights clarity in the cup.
5. Final Pour
Pour the remaining 100g of water gently into the centre of the coffee bed.
Allow the coffee to fully draw down. The total brew time should be approximately 2.5-3 minutes.
Once dripping has finished, remove the dripper.
Serve and enjoy!

Pour Over Coffee FAQs
Can you use regular ground coffee for pour over?
You can, but grind size matters. Pour over requires a medium (drip) grind. Coffee that is too fine can over-extract and taste bitter, while coffee that is too coarse may brew too quickly and taste weak. For best results, select drip grind when purchasing your coffee.
What are common mistakes in pour over coffee?
Some of the most common mistakes include:
-
Not rinsing the filter paper
-
Using water that is too hot or too cool
-
Pouring too quickly
-
Uneven saturation of the grounds
-
Incorrect grind size
Small adjustments in technique can dramatically improve clarity and balance in the final cup.
What are the benefits of a pour over?
Pour over brewing gives you complete control over extraction. It highlights:
-
Clarity of flavour
-
Balance and sweetness
-
Clean finish
-
The nuanced characteristics of single-origin coffees
It’s a slower method - but that’s part of the ritual. The result is a cup that feels considered and expressive.
