Tres Dragones derives its name from the trio of furnaces that fuel the drying process for coffees grown on the Potosi Farm. With sparks flying and flames leaping, these furnaces inadvertently ignited a blaze that engulfed the farmhouse. Situated on 52 hectares of fertile land in Caicedonia, this farm allocates 34 hectares to cultivating the Colombia varietal, the very same one that comprises this exceptional lot.

The Colombia varietal, a prevalent hybrid of Hybrid-de-Timor and Caturra, boasts impressive rust resistance and a high yield potential. After careful picking, the coffee undergoes a 19-22 hour fermentation process, followed by pulping and an additional 35 hours of fermentation. Subsequently, it is transported to a silo, where it dries for 48 hours before being moved to solar driers to rest for approximately 15 days.

This farm is where it all began for Blanca Ligia Correa and Juan Antonio Herrera. They introduced Yellow Bourbon, Red Bourbon, and Caturra to the existing Typica and created Café Granja La Esperanza in 1945. The farm continues to experiment with breeding trials for Geisha and other varietals, field testing them before implementing large-scale production.
